Public Works

Department Responsibilities

The Franklin Public Works Department is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and construction of Franklin roads and drainage structures.  Public Works also maintains, in operating condition, all working vehicles and support equipment in their department and in the Parks and Recreation Department.

Public Works functions include: yearly road renewal programs (rebuilding, overlaying, and chip sealing of roads), drainage (new construction and cleaning of existing drainage), roadside mowing, painting of crosswalks and stop bars, parking lot striping, road sweeping, fall leaf pick up, litter pick up, winter snow and ice control on Franklin roads.

The Department of Public Works is a team effort between the First Selectmans Office and Public Works. The main focus is the maintenance and improvement of Public infrastructure including roads, bridges, parks, buildings, solid waste facilities, vehicles and other municipal equipment.

The Department works closely with State Agencies and Town Offices to comply with current standards and improve services for the Town of Franklin. It is our goal to be courteous, respectful and provide a level of service Franklin residents can be proud of.
