The Planning and Zoning Commission performs duties regarding land development and uses through two separate enabling sections of the Connecticut State law: those pertaining to zoning and those pertaining to planning. Planning provides for a Plan of Conservation and Development which contains recommendations for the most desirable use of land for residential, commercial, industrial, recreational, and open space purposes. A system of zoning creates districts and rules and regulations for the use of land within the districts to direct compatible growth and avoid nuisances. The Planning and Zoning Commission reviews applications for site plans, special permits, zone changes, subdivisions, reviews, and makes recommendations on municipal improvements. The Commission prepares and amends the Plan of Conservation and Development at least once every ten years. Enforcement and daily administration of the Commission's regulations are performed through the Town's Planning and Zoning Office.

The Planning & Zoning Commission is comprised of five (5) Regular Members and three (3) alternate members.  The Commission meets the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm.
