Whether you are locating your business, home, or both here, welcome to Franklin! Our office is waiting to assist you in all aspects of land use, including permits for construction, zoning, and the enforcement of local ordinances and State laws.

Department Responsibilities:

Provide guidance to applicants for land use permits; enforce zoning regulations and Town ordinances; participate as a team member in municipal projects, serve as staff to the Zoning Board of Appeals, Planning & Zoning, and provide technical assistance to the Board of Selectmen and other agencies as requested.  The Planning & Zoning Office staff also provides GIS mapping services; participates in regional planning efforts; and plans for future growth, open space and quality of life issues.

* Note:  Uncas Health District (UHD) now serves as the local health department for the Town of Franklin.  The agency provides licensing/permit approval for items such as, but not limited to, septic systems, soil testing, food service, construction of addition, pool, deck, and garage, changing the use of a building, and temporary events.
